Apri drug description and what Apri is used to treat

Apri is an oral contraceptive that comes in a regimen blister card that contains 21 pink tablets and 7 white tablets. The pink tablets each contain 0.15mg desogestrel and 0.03 mg ethinyl estradoil. They also contain inactive ingredients like povidone, pregelatinized starch, stearic acid, titanium dioxide, and vitamin E. The white tablets are composed of lactose anhydrous, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose and pregelatinized starch.

Before you start taking Apri, it is best to consult with a doctor so that he or she can assess whether you are viable to take this medication. Patients who have shown allergic reactions to any of the components of the drug are not viable for Apri. You would also need to inform him if you are allergic to estrogen or progestin because most contraceptive pills contain inactive components that may cause allergic reactions or other medical problems.

The pink tablet that is labeled as “1” should be taken on the first day of your menstrual cycle and the following tablets on the succeeding days until you finish the 28 tablets on the blister pack. Start on a new pack as soon as the 28 tablets are done. It is highly recommended that you take Apri daily so that you may be protected from pregnancy.
