FEM HRT DESCRIPTION

Fem Hrt (Ethinylestradiol/Norethindrone) - Tablet

Brand Name
FemHRT

Common Name
norethindrone acetate - ethinyl estradiol (FemHRT)

Where can I order Fem HRT From? Can I buy Fem HRT at Canadian Prices?

Yes, if you are from the U.S. then you can buy Fem HRT at Canadian prices. Currently we will only accept an order for Fem HRT from U.S. and Canadian residents. Both U.S. and Canadian residents require a prescription to purchase Fem HRT and when you order Fem HRT it will be delivered with express shipping.

How does FemHrt work? What will it do for me?

FemHRT contains two medicinal ingredients: ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone. Ethinyl estradiol belongs to a group of medicines called estrogens, while norethindrone acetate belongs to the group of medicines known as progesterones. Estrogens and progesterones are female hormones. They are produced by the body and are necessary for the normal sexual development of the female and for the regulation of the menstrual cycle during the childbearing years.

During and after menopause, the ovaries start to produce less of these hormones. A deficiency of estrogen can result in symptoms associated with menopause such as hot flashes, unusual sweating, chills, dryness of the vagina, sleep disturbances, and reduction of bone mineral density leading to osteoporosis.

Using estrogens and progesterones to replace the female hormones that decline after menopause is known as hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The estrogen contained in FemHRT replaces the missing estrogen and helps relieve the symptoms of menopause and reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

You should start experiencing relief from your menopausal symptoms shortly after beginning Fem Hrt. Changes in bone mineral density occur gradually over time. The progesterone contained in FemHRT (norethindrone acetate) protects against increased risk of endometrial cancer that extra estrogen might cause. Women who do not have a uterus should use hormone products that contain only estrogen to relieve menopausal symptoms, since they do not have any risk for endometrial cancer.

Your doctor may choose to use Fem Hrt for other conditions not listed here. If you're unsure why you are taking Fem Hrt, contact your doctor.

How should I use Fem Hrt?

The recommended dose of FemHRT is one tablet daily at approximately the same time each day, with or without food. You will no longer get your monthly period once you start taking this drug; however, some light bleeding or spotting for the first few months may occur.

Many things can affect the dose of medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are using the medication without consulting your doctor.

It is important to take Fem Hrt exactly as prescribed. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your normal schedule. Do not double up on doses.

Store Fem Hrt at room temperature, protect it from light and moisture, and keep it out of the reach of children.

What form(s) does Fem Hrt come in?

Fem HRT is supplied as tablets each containing norethindrone acetate 1 mg and ethinyl estradiol 5 µg. Nonmedicinal ingredients include calcium stearate, lactose monhydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, and cornstarch. This product does not contain yeast or gluten.

Are there any other precautions or warnings for Fem Hrt?

Follow-up examinations: It is important to have a follow-up examination 3 to 6 months after starting FemHRT to assess the response to treatment. Examinations should be done every 6 to 12 months after the first one.

Risk factors for breast cancer: Women who have risk factors for breast cancer, for example a family history of it, should not use estrogen unless benefits outweigh risks.

Diabetes: Women with diabetes should have their glucose and cholesterol levels checked while on this drug.

Familial hypertriglyceridemia: Women with a condition known as familial hypertriglyceridemia (a disorder leading to high levels of fats known as triglycerides in the blood) should be cautious when taking Fem Hrt.

Gallbladder disease: Fem Hrt can aggravate gallbladder disease or increase the risk of developing it.

History of estrogen-related jaundice and itch: Women who have a history of estrogen-related jaundice and itch should be cautious when using Fem Hrt.

Uterine leiomyoma: Existing uterine leiomyoma may increase in size during estrogen use. Usually, this is minimal. However, if pain or tenderness occurs, inform the doctor as soon as possible. In some cases, the medication may need to be stopped.

Hypercalcemia and kidney disease: Prolonged use of estrogens can change the metabolism of calcium and phosphorus. FemHRT® contains estrogens and should be used with caution by people with disorders that change the levels of calcium and phosphorus in the blood, such as metabolic or malignant bone diseases or kidney disease.

Other medical conditions: Since estrogen can cause fluid retention, women with reduced kidney function, asthma, heart disease, or epilepsy should use this product with caution, as it could worsen these conditions.

Major surgery: People undergoing major surgery should be cautious if taking FemHRT, as they may have an increased risk of experiencing a blood clot. If feasible, FemHRT should be stopped at least four weeks before major surgery. If you are scheduled for major surgery, check with your doctor to find out when you should stop taking Fem Hrt.

What other drugs could interact with Fem Hrt?

The following medications may be affected by FemHRT:

acetaminophen

If you are taking any of these medications, speak with your doctor or pharmacist. Depending on your specific circumstances, your doctor may want you to:

stop taking one of the medications,
change one of the medications to another,
change how you are taking one or both of the medications, or
leave everything as is.
An interaction between two medications does not always mean that you must stop taking one of them. In many cases, interactions are intended or are managed by close monitoring. Speak to your doctor about how any drug interactions are being managed or should be managed.

Medications other than those listed above may interact with Fem Hrt. Tell your doctor or prescriber about all prescription, over-the-counter (non-prescription), and herbal medications that you are taking. Also tell them about any supplements you take.
