Norflex General Information
Norflex also referred to as the citrate salt of orphenadrine, is a muscarinic antagonist prescribed for the treatment of drug-induced Parkinsonism. It is also prescribed for relief of pain from muscle spasm. The chemical name of the medication is N, N-dimethyl-2-[(2-methylphenyl)-phenylmethoxy] ethanamine and its chemical formula is C18H23NO.
Norflex belongs to the classification of medications known as skeletal muscle relaxants. The medication relieves pain resulting from muscle tightening and stiffness via minimizing the strength of signals in the nervous system. Norflex also treats acute muscle spasms. The medical expert may prescribe the medication for the treatment of health conditions other that what is mentioned above. Strictly avoid stopping this medication without consulting your doctor. The usual recommended oral dose of Norflex for adults is 100 mg twice on a daily basis in the morning and evening. It may be taken with or without food. The injectable Norflex dose is 60 mg into a vein or a muscle. The medication is available in the market in the form of tablets and injection. Tablets are round, white with “3M” imprinted on one side and “221” on the other. Injections are available in boxes of six 2mL ampules.
