How to Take Zoloft
Zoloft should be taken as prescribed by your primary care physician; instructions will be printed on the prescription label. Do not take more Zoloft or for a longer period of time than recommended by your doctor.
Zoloft can be taken with water and may be taken with or without food. Maintain a schedule of consistency by taking doses at the same time every day. Oral Zoloft must be diluted prior to administration. Carefully measure the dose with the medicine dropper provided and mix with one-half cup of liquid. Ginger ale, lemon-lime soda, lemonade, orange juice, and water are the only liquids that should be mixed with Zoloft. Drink right away and then add a little more water to the glass. Swirl the water around and drink.
If you miss a dose, take one as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the scheduled dose. Do not try to make up for the missed dose. Taking too much Zoloft may result in a range of effects including agitation, confusion, drowsiness, irregular heartbeat, seizures, and tremors. If you suspect an overdose, seek emergency medical assistance.
If you experience any adverse effects, speak with your doctor. Do not stop taking the medicine; unpleasant side effects can occur if Zoloft is suddenly stopped. It may take up to four weeks or longer before your body responds to Zoloft.
