Entex General Information
Entex tablets are scored, orange colored, and long-acting. It is recommended for oral administration. It is prescribed to break up congestion and mucous. The medication consists of Guaifenesin and phenylephrine. Guaifenesin works towards thinning mucous, increasing lubrication of the respiratory tract and mucous removal. Phenylephrine is a decongestant. It functions via constricting the blood vessels (arteries and veins). This further minimizes swelling of the mucous membranes in various areas including the sinuses and nose. Guaifenesin and phenylephrine are prescribed for the treatment of symptoms of the common cold and various other respiratory infections. Guaifenesin and phenylephrine or Entex may be utilized for treating other conditions too. The chemical name of Phenylephrine Hydrochloride is (-)-m-Hydroxy-a-[(methyl amino) methyl] benzyl alcohol hydrochloride. Its molecular formula comes as: C9H13NO2 HCl and it has a molecular weight 203.67. Guaifenesins chemical name comes as: 1,2-propanediol, 3-(2-methoxyphenoxy). The medication should be taken just as directed by the physician. Each dosage should be taken with a full glass of water. Fluid intake should also be increased during the day. This will help relieve symptoms of congestion. Take special care not to crush or chew the tablets, it may lead to some unwanted effects and decrease the efficacy of the medicine. Swallow the tablet as a whole.
