Reactine Side Effects
The second generation antihistamine Reactine has some side effects associated with it and in most cases is not severe. The Reactine side effects can include abdominal pain, dry mouth, drowsiness, fatigue, sore throat, nosebleeds from dried nasal passages and coughing. In most cases these side effects will decrease rapidly and need no medical treatment.
There can be more severe side effects that can include decreased or painful urination, irregular heart rate, tightness in the chest and increased blood pressure. There can be in very rare cases allergic reactions that can cause swelling of the mouth, throat, lips, nasal passages and eyes. Seizures are also possible and may need immediate medical attention.
There can be complications when taking Reactine with some medications and these should be reported to the physician prior to beginning to take the antihistamine. If there is a drug interaction the antihistamine should be stopped and medical attention acquired immediately.
Any side effect that is severe or that does not decrease when taking Reactine should be discussed with the physician. If the Reactine side effects are severe they may need immediate medical attention. Kidney patients, women that are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use this allergy medication to relieve allergy symptoms as it can be dangerous to the health of the renal patient or the infant.
