How to Take Accupril

Accupril is an ACE inhibitor used in the treatment of high blood pressure and is sometimes used to treat congestive heart failure. It can be taken alone or in combination with a thiazide form of water pill. Accupril cannot cure high blood pressure, but can keep it under control. Accupril should be taken exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. Directions will be printed on your prescription label and should not be altered in any way, unless changed by your physician. Accupril can be taken with or without food. Each dose should be taken with a full glass of water. If you accidentally miss a dose, take one as soon as you remember. If it almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take a dose at the scheduled time. Do not try to make up the missed dose. If you have taken too much Accupril, seek emergency medical attention immediately. Taking too much Accupril may cause dizziness or fainting. In an effort to make sure Accupril is effectively controlling your condition, your doctor will do regular blood pressure checks. Kidney and liver function may also be tested. Depending upon test results, dosage adjustments may need to be made.
