This is an important diabetes medication that controls high blood sugar, because this can prevent kidney damage, nerve damage, amputation and sexual dysfunction problems. These health risks along with heart attack and stroke can be complications that can occur when the diabetic’s blood sugar is continuously high.
Actos can be used alone or in combination with other anti-diabetic medications, but the physician will not prescribe this medication to a person with type I diabetes, since they take insulin.
This is an anti-diabetes medication that has some known side effects, drug interactions and might not be the proper medicine for every type II diabetic. For the diabetic that Actos is prescribed for will be directed to take it orally, daily to control the blood sugar level. The blood sugar level will be watched closely by the physician when taking this medication. It can, however take weeks or months for Actos to be fully effective in controlling the blood sugar level.
