Actos is a prescription oral anti-diabetic medication that helps control the blood sugar level in type II diabetes patients. When this medication is prescribed it will normally be prescribed to take one time per day. This is an oral tablet that can be taken with or without food and should be taken at approximately the same time each day. This will ensure the medicine is always in the system helping to control the blood sugar level in the normal range.
The prescription amount prescribed will be dependent upon the patients health, if there are other anti-diabetes medications being taken, other health conditions and medicines. The prescription amount can be changed by the physician depending on how the diabetes patient responds to Actos.
For Actos to be fully effective it must be taken without missing dosages and two dosages should never be taken together if a dosage is missed. The missed dosage should be taken as soon as possible unless it is near time to take the next dosage, then the missed dosage should be skipped. It can take between two and three months for Actos to be fully effective in controlling the blood glucose level. During this time the blood sugar level will be monitored closely and if necessary can be combined with other anti-diabetes medication.
