Domperidone General Information
Domperidone is used to treat or suppress nausea, vomiting and also to stimulate lactation. It is also used to treat certain stomach related diseases as well as Parkinson's disease. This drug is extremely effective in improving the digestive system. It is strictly recommended to consult the doctor before use. Patients allergic to any of the ingredients on the label should not use this medication. Doses should be according to the medical prescription. This drug is available in form of tablets and are white, film-coated, round, biconvex tablet, engraved with "rph D51" on one side and plain on the other side. These contain domperidone maleate of 12.72 mg (equivalent to domperidone10mg). Non-medicinal ingredients include: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, lactose, polydextrose, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, sodium benzoate, docusate sodium, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide sodium croscarmellose. Patients suffering from breast cancer, pituitary tumor and with extreme liver disorders should inform the healthcare provider. If patients are already consuming any of the medication, such as azole antifungals (e.g., fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, miconazole), erythromycin antibiotics (e.g., clarithromycin), HIV protease inhibitors (e.g., indinavir), MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine), nefazodone should consult with the doctor since Domperidone may interact with these drugs. This drug should be stored at a room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.
