In a majority of cases side effects will diminish after just a few days or a couple of weeks. Side effects include pain, swelling, itching, or redness at the site the injection was administered. If Lantus Insulin has been used by a patient and severe side effects occur that could be the signs of an allergic reaction, the patient will need to seek medical attention as soon as they can. Severe side effects that can occur include breathing that is shallow and fast, problems with breathing, drowsiness, itching, dizziness, pain in the stomach, chest lightness, slurred speech, hoarseness of the voice, rash, increased urination, hunger or thirst, weakness, arm or leg swelling, tremors, headache, sweating, loss of consciousness, swelling of the tongue, mouth, lips, or face, confusion, rapid heartbeat, hives, nervousness, vision changes, a fruity or sweet smelling breath, and seizures.
