Actonel General Information

Actonel tablets are pyridinyl bisphosphonate. Every tablet of Actonel is made from equivalent of 5mg, 30 mg, 35 mg, 75 mg, and 150 mg anhydrous formulation of risedronate sodium as hemi-pentahydrate along with little amount of monohydrate. Its empirical formula comes as: C7H10NO7P2Na•2.5 H2O. This drug is used to treat or prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, osteoporosis in men. This is also used to treat Paget's disease in both men and women. It is strictly recommended to consult the doctor regarding the doses. Actonel is a whitish off-white, fine, crystalline and odorless, powder which is water soluble and insoluble when it comes to organic solvents. The inactive ingredients of this drug are hydroxypropyl cellulose, crospovidone, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, silicon dioxide, polyethylene glycol and titanium dioxide. This medicine is meant for consumption in empty stomach. Patients suffering from kidney disorders, hypocalcemia and any other allergies from any specific food, ingredients and pets should be informed to the doctor. Cases of pregnancies and breast feeding women should also be discussed with the doctor before consuming ACTONEL (risedronate sodium) tablets. This drug is available in 4 strengths in the market. This medication should be stored at a room temperature of around 25 degree Celsius.
