Avandia (rosiglitazone oral) is an oral medicine used in the treatment of diabetes. It helps control blood sugar levels by making the bodys cells more sensitive to the action of insulin. Avandia is only to be used by people with Type 2 (non-insulin dependent) diabetes. It is not to be used by anyone with Type 1 diabetes and should not be taken in combination with insulin. Your doctor may prescribe Avandia in combination with other medicines to treat your diabetes. Discuss medical conditions such as; heart disease, liver disease, and diabetes related eye disorders with your doctor prior to the use of Avandia. Various oral diabetes medications can increase the risk of serious heart problems. Some medical conditions may require laboratory testing before you can use this medication. Avandia should always be taken as prescribed and for as long as recommended by your doctor.
