Celexa General Information
Celexa is a prescription medication. It is recommended for the treatment of major and clinical depression. The chemical name of the medication is (±)-1-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1, 3-dihydroisobenzofuran-5-carbonitrile, HBr. The chemical formula comes as: C20H22BrFN2O. It has molecular weight of 405.35. The medication should be given to the patient orally. Celexa can also be referred to as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It has a chemical structure that is not related to that of other SSRIs or any of the antidepressant agents available on the market. Celexa appears as a fine, whitish off-white colored powder. It is partly water soluble and entirely soluble when it comes to ethanol. The dosage of the medication depends on the recommendation given by the health care practitioner. Usually Celexa is required to be administered once on a daily basis, both in the morning or evening. It can be given with or without food.
