Flovent General Information

Flovent is used to treat severe asthma attacks. The active ingredient used in Flovent 220mcg Inhalation Aerosol, Flovent 110mcg Inhalation Aerosol, & Flovent 44mcg Inhalation Aerosol is fluticasone propionate. Fluticasone propionate is referred as glucocorticoid with a chemical name of: S-(fluoromethyl) 6, 9-difluoro-11, 17-dihydroxy-16-methyl-3-oxoandrosta-1, 4-diene-17-carbothioate, 17-propionate. The molecular weight of this drug is 500.6. It is off white powder and is insoluble in water, soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide and dimethylformamide, and slightly soluble in methanol and 95% ethanol. Doses should be strictly according to the medical prescription. Patients with chronic liver disorder should avoid this drug. The doses should not be increased or decreased without medical prescription. It has been observed that Flovent interacts with some medicines therefore; patients consuming other medicines should always inform the healthcare provider. Patients suffering from Eczema, Glaucoma, cataracts should inform the doctor before the consumption of this medication. Pregnant women or nursing mothers should contact their physicians about the use of Flovent. After inhalation, rinse the mouth with water and do not swallow. The inhaler should be cleaned once a week. Flovent inhalation Aerosol is supplied in pressurized aluminum canisters in the market. The canister withy mouthpiece should be stored between 2° and 30°C (36° and 86°F) away from sunlight and do not freeze.
