How to Take Efudex

Efudex should be applied in a sufficient amount so that it can cover the affected area completely and apply the medication two times in a day. The Efudex treatment should be continued for between two and six weeks. In some cases, the doctor might prescribe use of the medication up to between 10 and 12 weeks. The continuation period depends upon the response of lesions towards the medication. Use the medication as directed by your health care provider. Never change the dosing or don’t stop using the medication without consulting with the doctor or your health care provider. Before applying the medication wash the affected area and leave it for 10 minutes to become dry properly. Then apply the medication on the affected area of your body. Wash your hands immediately after using this medication, even if you have used gloves. The treated portions can become irritated for some weeks. Never cover the treated area with plastic bandaging or tight dressing. Avoid the medication from coming in contact with the eyes, mouth, and nose and from other sensitive part of the body. In case the medication goes into these areas then wash the area with plenty of water. In case of a missed dose apply the medication as soon as you recall. If it is the time for the next dose then just skip the dose and continue the dosing according to the schedule.
