The dosage of Levoxyl depends on a number of conditions and factors, such as your results of thyroid tests, your age, if you have any other medical conditions and any other medications that you are using. A standard dose cannot be recommended for all patients.
The doses should be recommended according to the condition of the individual. Your dose may be changed from time to time by your health care provider. General dosing information can be given but it may be differ from what your doctor has prescribed for you. The general dose of Levoxyl is 100 to 125 mcg in day for adults weighing around 70kg. Generally doses of 200 mcg per day or more is not prescribed. The maximum dose for every day intake is 300 mcg; however, this dose is quite rare. Take the doses as directed by the doctor. The medication is available in a tablet form and generally taken once daily in the morning time. It should be taken on an empty stomach, 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast. In case of children the medication may be mixed with a little water and should be taken immediately. It should be taken at the same time each day, so that an even level of the drug can be maintained in your blood. Your dosage should be adjusted after a particular number of blood tests. In case of a missed dose then talk to your health care provider, otherwise that may hamper your dose adjustment.
