Protonix comes from a class of medicines referred as the proton pump inhibitors. It works by blocking the production of stomach acids. Protonix is used for the treatment of various health complications, including acid reflux or GERD, erosive esophagitis, heartburn, swallowing difficulties and other digestive problems.
The medication is available in the form of oral pills, suspension and granules. The individual dose of different forms of Protonix is determined by a healthcare provider after observing the overall health condition of the patient.
