Risperdal General Information

Risperdal is made from psychotropic agent that is categorized as a class of chemical known as benzisoxazole derivatives. This drug’s chemical name is 3-[2-[4-(6-fluoro-1, 2-benzisoxazol-3-yl)-1-piperidinyl] ethyl]-6, 7, 8, 9-tetrahydro-2-methyl-4H-pyrido [1, 2-a] pyrimidin-4-one. Its molecular formula comes as C23H27FN4O2 and its molecular weight is 410.49. Risperdal appears as a white to slightly beige powder. It is practically insoluble in water. In methylene chloride, Risperdal is freely soluble and completely soluble in methanol. The Risperdal is found as an oral solution of strength 1 mg/mL. The oral solution consists of inactive ingredients as below: • Benzoic acid • Tartaric acid • Purified water • Sodium hydroxide This medication is also available as orally disintegrating tablets in the following strengths: 1. 0.5 mg 2. 1 mg 3. 2 mg 4. 3 mg 5. 4 mg These tablets contain inactive ingredients such as: • Gelatin • Amberlite® resin • Glycine • Mannitol • Simethicone • Sodium hydroxide • Carbomer • Red ferric oxide • Peppermint oil • Aspartame The orally disintegrating Risperdal tablets should be stored at controlled room temperature 15°-25°C (59°-77°F). It is important to protect the medication from light and moisture. Keep the medication out of reach of children.
