How to Take Seroquel
Seroquel needs to be taken exactly as recommended by your doctor. Directions will be printed on the medicine label. The amount of medication or length of time taken should only be altered by your doctor. Physicians sometimes change the dosage requirements to make sure their patients realize the most benefits from a medication.
Seroquel can be taken with or without food, although it should be taken with a full glass of water. This is a time release tablet and should not be chewed, crushed, or broken; swallow the pill whole. If a Seroquel tablet is broken down in any way before swallowing, too much of the drug may be released at one time.
If you miss a dose, take one as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not try to make up for the missed dose by taking extra medicine.
If you take too much Seroquel, seek medical attention immediately. An overdose of Seroquel may cause fainting, increased heart rate, or undue tiredness. Seroquel may cause high blood sugar. If you feel excessively hungry, increasingly thirsty, or experience unwarranted spells of weakness, contact your doctor. If you are diabetic, check your blood sugar levels regularly.
