Novolin Side Effects
Novolin is used for the treatment of diabetes. This is a condition where the insulin production of the body is insufficient or the produced insulin is not utilized effectively. This results in hyperglycemia, a condition where the glucose levels of the body spike dramatically.
Diabetes can cause symptom like increased thirst, urination and hunger. It can also cause weight loss, fatigue, and halitosis. If left untreated, hyperglycemia can result in diabetic coma and diabetic ketoacidosis. Since, Novolin is injected subcutaneously; it can cause some rashes, itching or irritation at the site of injection. Overdosing on Novolin or skipping meals after taking the medication can result in hypoglycemia, a condition where the blood sugar levels fall very low. This is characterized by symptoms like hunger, confusion, drowsiness, weakness, cold sweat, slurred speech, headache, fast heartbeat. If you experience these symptoms, consume some source of sugar like hard candy or juice. If you experience hypoglycemia in spite of taking the dose recommended by the doctor and taking your meals at the right time, report this to your doctor. If the patient is allergic to Novolin, it can cause symptoms like rashes, hives, wheezing, and swelling of the lips. In such cases, seek immediate medical attention.
