The general recommended dose of this medicine is 2.5 mg once every day. The doctor can change your dose depending upon reduction in blood pressure and your response rate. The usual dosage range is limited between 2.5 and 20 mg in a single day. This can be taken as a single dose or as two equally divide d doses. In some cases, the antihypertensive effect may reduce towards the end of dosing interval. In such cases, the dose of the patient can be increased to twice a day. If blood pressure is not controlled with this medicine then a diuretic can be added. If a patient becomes hypotensive towards the prescribed dose, doctors might change the dose to 1.25 mg every day. After the first dose of Altace, the patient should be observed under medical supervision for two to three hours, until the blood pressure of the patient is stabilized. The starting of this medicine should be done under the direct supervision of your doctor. Overdose of this drug needs to be avoided.
