The initial recommended dosage of Sabril for the treatment of refractory complex partial seizures in adults is 500 mg is usually twice per day. Sabril can be taken irrespective of the food intake by the patient. The dosing of this medication can be increased with increment of 500 mg per day.
The increments on the dosage should be done in an interval of a week. A dosage of 6 g per day has been known to show no significant effectiveness as compared to a dosage of 3 g per day. The tablet form of this medication comes in strength of 500 mg. These tablets are meant to be taken orally. The time for taking the medication should be maintained ever day. This will ensure the maintenance of the level of the medication in the body. If you ever miss any dosage of Sabril, take it as soon as you remember. If the time for taking the next dosage is nearing, skip the missed dosage and take the next regular dosage. Never double up the dosages. Doubling up the dosages may end you up with an overdose of this medication. The medication should be taken as instructed by your health care provider only.
