How to Take Aerius
Aerius is an anti-allergy medication. It should be used as directed by the doctor. Your doctor will take into considerations several factors like your age, extent and severity of your symptoms, other medical conditions you may be suffering from, other medications you may be taking, before determining the dosage that suits you. The medication comes in the form of tablets or syrup. Aerius tablets come in strengths of 5 mg. The usual recommended dose of the tablets for adults and children over the age of 12 is one tablet per day. 1 mL of Aerius syrup contains 0.5 mg of desloratadine. For adults and children over the age of 12, the recommended dose of Aerius syrup is 10 mL taken once daily. In younger children in the age range of 6 to 11 years, the recommended dose is 5 mL of Aerius syrup taken once per day. Children in the age range of 2 to 6 years should take only 2.5 mL of the syrup in a day. Both the tablets and the syrup can be taken with or without food. If you miss a dose of Aerius, take it as soon as you remember. Never take more than one dose in 24 hours. In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention.
