How to Take Vetmedin
Vetmedin should be given exactly as prescribed by your veterinarian. It is typically given twice a day with a twelve hour period in between doses, unless otherwise directed by your pet’s veterinarian. Purchase of Vetmedin will require a prescription from your veterinary care provider.
If you miss giving a dose, give the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next regularly scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Give the next regular dose and follow up with a dose twelve hours later. Do not give a double dose of Vetmedin or try to make up for the missed dose.
If you have given too much Vetmedin, seek emergency medical treatment. Symptoms of a Vetmedin overdose often appear as accumulated fluid in the abdomen or lungs, coughing, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, drowsiness, inappetance, and weakness.
Vetmedin should not be given to dogs less than six months of age or dogs that are pregnant or breast-feeding puppies.
Before starting your pet on a regimen of Vetmedin, inform your veterinarian of any medication your dog is taking for another disease or disorder. Make sure to include medicines prescribed by another doctor, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and minerals. If your dog shows signs of experiencing an allergic reaction or other type of side effects, stop giving Vetmedin and seek medical assistance immediately.
